Montreal in Review
Montreal, the cultural capital of French speaking Quebec, seduces its visitors with marvelous natural beauty and historical architecture.
Seventeenth century Montreal is still apparent today in what is known as Old Montreal or Vieux-Montréal; it has retained much of its charm through cobblestone streets and original architecture. The Notre Dame, the Montreal Basilica and the Bonsecours Market are main attractions, but there is so much to see in the old town that a guided walking tour might be a good option.
If you are a fan of culture, an art history, you will find plenty of museums in Montreal to keep you occupied, such as the Musée d'Art Contemporain (Contemporary Art Museum) and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts exhibiting the finest European and Canadian art and Mediterranean archaeology and antiquities. Loads of parks, hosting festivals during the summer months and providing splendid views in the cold Canadian winter all add to the beauty of this cultivated city. During the winter, some of them, such as Parc de Mont Royal, offer the possibility to do cross-country skiing.
